In my shop, on the torch again.

Hey there,
My name is Kerry S. Caron and I am a Westcoast Canadian artist. Many years ago I took the two year Fine Arts Program at Langara College in Vancouver.
I was a young girl still discovering myself. Confused by so many different ways one could express oneself. It was a struggle for me with everything I tried, from pottery, painting, fabric arts, sculpting, woodwork, etc.
I poured myself into each and every one of these things, but I still felt unfullfilled.
Something was missing.

Even with travelling to Central America I could not find the life long medium I was searching for.
I will always work with and try new things but being who I am I needed a strong base on which to build my dream.

Then I moved to Northern Alberta and during the  long cold winters I came to feel as though my artistic soul was disappearing. Still filling my sketch books with lots of ideas but I had nothing off the paper that I wanted to use them on. Then one day I saw an ad for a night school course in a local paper. 'Beginners stained glass was being offered at Keyano College.'
I took the six week course and I have been working with glass ever since.

After many years of designing and building my own windows, lamps, jewelry boxes, plants and whatever else I could make in glass and teaching for over 10 years I needed a change. I knew I did not want to leave the glass field, I just wanted to explore it.

It was just a freak thing when a friend bought me a magazine and in it were pictures of all these hand made beads. Facinated by the mere idea that I could make my own beads, I set out to find out how I could do just that.
So in the summer of 2004 I took a 3 hour
lampwork course and I have been torching ever since and loving it more with each passing day.
It is limitless, my brain is overloaded with ideas. the sketch books are once again full, and my  artists soul is at peace...
Working on the torch is a needed release after some of the crazy days I have at my day job. I work as an Educational Assistant with special needs children in a highschool.  I love my job as it also fills a great part of my life and makes up a part of who I am.

These two worlds keep me progressing forward and not retreating into a deep dark hole somewhere....

I want to thank all the people who have supported me and helped me along the way. I cannot say enough good things about the people at Sunlight Glass, Andrighetti Glass and the Pacific Pyros.
To my friends and family... Thank-you for all your love and support throughout my life thus far.
   I will keep dreaming.
For a life is nothing without dreams.....smiles Kerry
